Actum Brazil
Actum Brazil is a non-profit organisation created by three young people from the state of Acre, whose goal is to transform and develop the youth of the Amazon region through their relationship with the world, with others and with themselves.
About the project
Starting point
Actum Brazil was created by three young people from Acre, based on a volunteer experience that connected them with a situation of lack of access to professional opportunities and national and international leadership experiences, aggravated by regional inequalities and social vulnerability in the states of the Amazon Region. The Legal Amazon was defined by a socio-political rather than geographical bias, where the states that comprise it (Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Mato Grosso, Pará, Rondônia, Roraima, Tocantins and part of Maranhão) share similar economic, political and social challenges.
Support from local communities
Working to develop the skills needed in the job market and social skills aimed at positive social impact, with a focus on vulnerable communities in the local region of the Amazon states.
Final result
Young people who are better prepared, skilled, and competent to face diverse social challenges. With high career growth rates among our participants, developing their potential as leaders, serving an average of 130 young people per semester.

With a predominantly young population, it concentrates the states with the worst scores in the country according to the Ideb, and with a school failure rate of almost double the national average, while limitations on access (physical and economic) resulting from social inequalities increase the incidence of dropouts. This region also has the lowest rate of access to basic sanitation, the lowest per capita income in the country and, together with the Northeast, has the highest percentage of young people who neither work nor study.
During the pandemic, they also recorded the lowest rates of internet access and remote school infrastructure, affecting adolescents and young people at the beginning of their careers in particular. There are countless factors that consolidate the regional inequality in which these states find themselves, and there is an urgent need for social action to promote the development of this group of people.
“I would like to thank you for the opportunity. Regardless of whether I am selected or not, I believe in the strength of the project and that it will make a difference in the lives of many people.”
“Congratulations on the project. Even though I won’t be able to get a place, I’m very happy to know that other people can benefit and have their lives changed. Congratulations to the team for the initiative.”
"I'm just happy to see these initiatives focused on the state. We need more actions like this; our young people are eager for knowledge."
What our participants say...
“I would like to thank those responsible for this project, which will undoubtedly contribute to the growth of many young people.”
